SEN Explorers under the leadership of Aaron Bint, provides a much needed get away adventure opportunity for people with severe learning difficulties and complex autism. I believe SEN Explorers has so far been a success, because locations are carefully chosen and experienced staff are recruited to work well as a team, to support the needs of the young people in their charge - this is vitally important. As a parent I would not let my son go away with anyone who I felt did not have the required expertise and experience. My son has been on a number of trips now over the past few years and I am sure it has enriched his life enormously and contributed to his growing self confidence and independence. While we as parents can relax in the knowledge that Aaron and his team will take very good care of our children and enable them to have an enjoyable and fun-filled break, whatever the weather!
As parents of a young man with severe autism, we constantly look for support and respite in order to improve his life skills and for us to be able to have the energy and the ability to continue caring for him.
SEN-Explorers has given our son the opportunity to experience independent living (even if it was only for 4 days at a time), exposed him to a lot of new life skills and challenges and allowed him to experience living with peers.
Their level of care, safeguarding and risk assessment is outstanding. They are regularly in touch with parents and update events of the day supported by daily photos.
We can not thank SEN-Explorers enough for the support they have given our son and us and hope they manage to maintain their outstanding support to us and many more parents.
